Why I give my kids 3 to 5 servings of Fruits and Veggies Every Day

It’s been drilled into our heads, “Eat at least three to five servings of fruits and veggies a day!” But have you ever wondered why?

Leafy greens, veggies, and fruits support our body by providing micronutrients, antioxidants, and phytonutrients.  These things keep our bodies operating at peak performance on every level. They also help to alkalize the body, make it less acidic, cleanse our colon, and detoxify our organ systems.  So, getting our three to five daily servings of fruits and veggies is essential if we’re looking to lose weight or improve our overall wellness.

Toxins get stored in our fat cells as a way to protect our bodies, and as our bodies start to metabolize fats, those toxins are released. Detoxifying and cleansing the body of these toxins is essential because it supports the cleansing of our gallbladder, liver, and kidneys. Inflammation and weight gain have a lot in common. The more inflamed we are, the more we tend to put on weight. Then the bandwidth that our bodies have to start any healing process opens up, allowing us to get back to a natural state of wellness.
